A Guide to Reznor Garage Heaters

When it comes to heaters, few brands can boast the same level of experience as Reznor. Ever since it started in 1888, Reznor HVAC has 130 years of rich history making HVAC products, both for residential and industrial use.

The company has built a reputation for high-quality and reliable products covering heating, cooling and ventilation needs. More than just a leading brand, Reznor founded several industry firsts, such as the first gas-fired unit heater in the US in 1920, as well as the first gas-fired industrial heater in 1935.

Reznor’s Garage Heaters

Reznor’s products have a well-deserved reputation for rugged reliability and longevity, and their garage heaters are no exception. Our Reznor garage heater lineup comes in a wide range of BTU models to suit different spaces, from 30,000 all the way to 400,000 BTU and options for both residential and commercial applications.

Each heater also boasts a sleek build and redesigned heat exchangers that offer industry-leading performance, worthy of the storied brand.

Static Pressure

Static pressure is basically the air resistance in the space to be heated.

A high-static area is one where there is higher air resistance, due to the inherent design of the room, filters, or ductwork. This requires a high-static heater to service the space more efficiently.

A low-static area is one with low airflow, due to tighter home envelopes or oversized trunk lines. A low-static heater is enough for such spaces.

Fan type

An axial fan is one where the blades spin around a central shaft to pull in air. They generally have a high flow rate, but low pressure. They also require less power to run.

A blower or centrifugal fan works differently: it pulls in air from a side intake and blows it out through a 90-degree angle duct. The result is a lower flow rate due to the ductwork, but higher airflow pressure. This allows them to generate a steadier flow of air at the cost of higher energy consumption.

Reznor UDX-30 and UDX-45 Power Vented Gas Fired Unit Heater

These single-stage gas-fired heaters boast a best-in-class 82% thermal efficiency, thanks to Reznor’s patented heat exchangers made of titanium-stabilized aluminized steel. A newly designed circuit board allows for fan-only operation without the need to add relays.

All these are packaged in a sleek design that does away with messy hardware: everything is hidden behind an easily accessible hinged door, while external LED lights indicate the unit’s status.

The UDX-30 has a 30,000 BTU output, while the UDX-45 is good for up to 45,000 BTU.

    1. Mickey Luongo says:

It depends on the space. The UDZ pulls in combustion air from outside which is good if the space is really well sealed or if you are using any combustible materials in the space like paint or saw dust. If not, the UDX is a great choice.

      1. Sandy Friedman says:

Thanks…I have a 1400+sq ft insulated pole building used as a dog training center. Nothing flammable so the UDX-100 would be the best option?
